School Story

I cherish the friendships I made at DSH. Though I’ve always considered myself shy, I found confidence through wrestling and football. These days, tennis has become my passion—I play five times a week and still carry plenty of strength both on and off the court.

Being adopted at two months, I later discovered that my biological father was also a 156‑pound state champion wrestler. The apple, it seems, did not fall far from the tree.

Life is short, and nowhere is that more evident than on Elmwood Drive—the block of professor‑built homes where I grew up surrounded by children my age. In just the past five years, six of my classmates from Elmwood have passed away. That’s right—six lives gone from one block.

Where else have you lived?

U C Berkeley, Danville, Ca, now San Diego

Still have family around in Davis?

All have died

How often do you get back to Davis?

Once per year

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?

No, not many care to

High points of your life since high school?

My own business and Tennis

What's your favorite memory of DHS?

Paul G. Bill C., Ralph W., Danny Butler, Lance B. Ed., Terry C., Susan T., football, wrestling, cars I had, Lisa, my parents attending matches. Mom always brought enough food for the entire team. We lost Marvin to the Bottle. He was part of the gang.

Danny was special to me, as he and I wrestled in the same weight class. It was a joy — he was a fighter, strong and smart, and I will miss him. I felt he drifted away after meeting Henry and getting into other things, but all in all, I will remember him as a sober, learned soul — pure. That is how I want to remember him.
