School Story

Really enjoyed the great memories and friendships through music and academia. Fantastic times in Jazz band, marching band, pep band. Playing down in the pit during exciting musicals like West Side Story, Kiss Me Kate.
Great energy playing on the JV soccer team in 11th & 12th grade.

High School was a real growing up time. Made a lot of friends and finding support in good and bad times.

Probably many students knew, but my Mom was fighting a losing battle with cancer, and passed away just before the Senior Ball and 2 weeks before graduation. My siblings and I were told to work thorough the grieving while finishing up the school year without letting others know. But i found friendships, Young Life and my faith kept me going.

Where else have you lived?

Before Davis - Rochester, NY & Bitburg, West Germany & Travis AFB, Fairfield, CA.
After Davis - San Luis Obispo, CA & Copenhagen, Denmark & Woodland, CA & Concord, CA & Alameda, CA

Still have family around in Davis?

No

How often do you get back to Davis?

Varies. Lived and worked in Davis off/on for 10 years after College, frequently traveled back until my Grandmother living in Davis died. Then only occasionally traveled back until my youngest daughter studied at UCD. Have revisited friends when work travel allowed me to stop by for visits. Recent years only about 1 or 2 times/year.

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?

Yes, Richard Kubota, David Hance, and others. Also have reconnected over the years through FB. Discovered old classmates in the SF Bay area, like Jennifer Ball. Sorry I missed reconnecting with Loren Linnard, who created a musical back summer after HS. Played his original music on my saxophone, with a headphone over the end of the sax as a microphone.

Wonderful to encounter classmates over the years, even when traveling. Like being on the same flight as Theresa Hayes down to LA just as I was leaving for a year of college study in Denmark. And meeting up with Judy Parker in Germany to celebrate Christmas with her friends. Even met a gal from Davis, who was studying with College classmates in Florence, Italy, who had the recorder (music) teacher growing up in Davis.

Won't mind visiting others now that I know many have returned to Davis. Love to reflect on the Davis memories and well as where God has changes us over life's adventures.

High points of your life since high school?

Studying and living a year in Europe and traveling around.
Going though career changes - from Architecture to Computer industry to Door and Window manufacturing and back into Architecture.
Meeting and marrying my lovely wife who encouraged me to expand my horizons, venture into different work. Together we started marriage later in life and about to create some lovely children.
And to appreciate family and friends over the years, even when far away.
